THE DIAMOND SIS APRILS BIRHSTONE SET IN A THREE STONE RING

April Birthstone The Diamond

For those fortunate enough to be born in April, their most prized gemstone is your birthstone; the diamond, indeed, is a girl’s (or a boy’s) best friend.

You probably have already heard about diamonds’ toughness. Made from just one element: carbon, it is the hardest gemstone.

Diamond History

It is 58 times harder than anything else in nature, and you can only cut a diamond with another diamond. Although the diamond is synonymous with diamond engagement rings, it is also the perfect stone for individuals who want to make a unique piece of jewellery to celebrate a birthday or anniversary.

The most common colour for the diamond is white; however, it is also available in yellow, red, pink, blue and green, with a colour range in intensity from faint to vivid, with more saturation in colour being the most expensive.

An intense coloured diamond that sparkles is very rare to find and most certainly will be priced higher than a colourless diamond (white) of equal size.

Choosing a diamond

When choosing a coloured diamond, you have to be careful that the diamond you are buying is natural and not a coloured-treated diamond introduced in a laboratory. The tell-tell sign for this will inevitably be the price.

The diamond is suitable for you if you are looking for a gemstone that sparkles the most. The diamond has the best possible lustre of any other gem when cut and polished well.

The diamond has been admired for centuries, with historians estimating that it was first traded as early as 4 BC.

One possible reason besides its sparkle that a diamond is admired and valued is the process by which it is formed well below the earth’s crust and then forced upward until it is uncovered.

The diamond has healing powers.

The diamond has often been associated with significant healing powers, with some believing it could cure brain disease, alleviate pituitary gland disorders and draw toxins from the blood.

India was the first country where diamonds became popular, with the Moghuls and Imperial Colony mining diamonds along three major rivers.

Throughout history, diamonds have always symbolised eternal and lasting love, and perhaps it is; for this reason, it is the most popular and recognised stone to be presented in an engagement ring or a significant gift as the diamond has both beauty and enduring symbolism.

A diamond – a gift to show true love

Whether you have a landmark birthday or anniversary in April or want to tell someone special that you love them, giving a diamond means giving a wonderful gift that will stand the test of time.
